What's happening

We asked for your feedback on our free community bus service following changes made to the service in 2022 after an initial review. We spoke to people across our community, including current bus passengers, people who do not currently catch the council bus and those that used to catch the service but no longer do.

Currently our community bus services are not being used to their full potential. We’d like to understand how these services are valued by our community and how we can make them a more utilised mode of transport.

Detailed circuit maps and timetables for our current community bus services, are available on the City of PAE Website or via the links on this page.

A Report was presented to Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting on the 13 August 2024, detailing the review that was undertaken and recommending changes to our services following community engagement findings. Thank you very much for your interest and involvement in reviewing our community bus services.

You can find out what we heard from our community and the project next steps, by viewing the tabs below.

Council Decision

A Report was presented to Council at the Ordinary Council meeting on 13 August 2024, recommending a range of changes to our community bus services based on community feedback and current usage rates. Council endorsed the Report that included the following recommendations:

  • Replacement of Dial and Ride Circuits 1 and 2 with a door-to-door, bookable service for eligible residents.
  • Combining the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) Transport and Community Bus Transport passengers together to create greater efficiencies and more transport destination options for our community. This will involve transporting CHSP and Community residents on the same means of transport.
  • Commencing engagement with individual passengers to implement the future transport options of transitioning to the door-to-door service and investigate their preferred transport options to commence the new service model by the end of 2024.

Next steps

Over the next few months, we will be contacting all passengers who currently use Hail and Ride Circuits 1 and 2 and discussing with them moving to a door to door service.

We will also be looking at expanding the door to door services for all areas across PAE and to include new venues for shopping and drop offs.
