What's happening
The existing playground and outdoor gym equipment at Leopold Conrad Reserve has reached the end of its usual asset lifespan and is ready for replacement. The current play equipment has a focus on ages 3 to 12 years, and we plan to maintain this focus for the replacement playground.
We have allocated a budget of $430,000 in the 2024–25 Annual Business Plan to upgrade the playground, rubber softfall, fitness equipment and fence. We plan to use this money to install new fitness equipment and play equipment, including (but not limited to) a swing, a slide and climbing equipment.
Please note that as part of this project we will also install rubber soft fall surface and replace the existing fence.
Please view the designs below for the new playground and outdoor fitness equipment, that have been selected based on the equipment our community preference during community engagement. Construction of the playground and outdoor fitness equipment is scheduled to begin from early October 2024.

What we asked
We know it is essential to include sliding, climbing and swinging within the new playground. We asked our community to share what fourth element of play equipment you would like to have at this reserve and what outdoor fitness equipment you are most interested in using.
How we asked
What we heard
What fourth element of play equipment would you like to have at the reserve?
This question was optional. Not all respondents chose to provide a preference.
What outdoor fitness equipment would you like to have at the reserve?
This question was optional and respondents could choose their top two preferences.
Key comments and themes:

- Requests for shade over playground
- Requests for a toilet at the reserve
- Support for and requests for toddler focused play equipment
- Requests for additional seating
- Comments stating the importance of having a fence at this playground due to the number of dogs that are also exercised at this reserve.
