What's happening
The existing playground at Queensborough Reserve has reached the end of its usual asset lifespan and is ready for replacement. The current play equipment has a focus on children aged 2 to 5 years old, and we plan to maintain this focus for the replacement playground.
We have allocated a budget of $260,000 in the 2024–25 Annual Business Plan to upgrade the playground and rubber softfall. We plan to use this money to install new play equipment, including (but not limited to) a swing, a slide and climbing equipment.
Please view the design below for the new playground, that has been selected based on feedback we received during community engagement. Construction of the playground is scheduled to begin from late September / early October 2024.

Constuction of the new playground is scheduled to begin from late September / early October 2024 and take approximately four to six weeks for completion.
Thank you for your interested and involvement in this project.
Engagement
What we asked
We know it is essential to include sliding, climbing and swinging within the new playground. We asked our community to share what fourth element of play equipment you would like to have at this reserve.
How we asked
What we heard
What fourth element of play equipment would you like to have at the reserve?
This question was optional. Not all respondents chose to provide a preference.
Key comments and themes:
- Opportunities for senior play equipment
- Support for rubber softfall rather than bark chips
- Requests for barriers / safety rails for smaller children on key elements of equipment
- Requests for a trampoline/s to be included
- Support for focus on toddler play
- Requests for shade
- Support for accessibility focus
- Requests for a fence around the playground or reserve
- Concerns regarding car speed and/or requests for speed reduction treatments
