Creating healthier, welcoming public spaces

We're looking into creating designated smoke and vape free areas in key public spaces in Semaphore to improve health and make our public spaces more welcoming.

In designated smoke free areas smoking and vaping is not permitted in all public spaces including footpaths, medians and Council-owned land. This does not include private property within the designated area.

We’re seeking community input on setting aside three areas as smoke and vape free.

  • Area 1: Semaphore Foreshore, the central plaza area from Coppin Street to the Palais Hotel
  • Area 2: Semaphore Road between the Esplanade and Military Road, including Time Ball Tower Reserve
  • Area 3: Semaphore Road between Military Road and Swan Terrace/Woolnough Road (including areas of some side streets)

We are asking for your feedback on each of these areas.
