What we asked

We told our community that the Vickers Vimy playground replacement would include swinging, sliding and climbing and asked what fourth play element our community would like to see.

What we heard

We received 49 feedback survey responses. 46 participants voted on the fourth play element (other than sliding, swimming and climbing) that would like to see included and one person voted for multiple elements. The results are below.

  • Balancing - 18 votes

  • Spinning - 12 votes

  • Jumping - 12 votes

  • Role play / pretend play - 3 votes

  • Rocking - 2 votes

There were a number of key themes that came from written responses, including:

  • Nature play and increased landscaping
  • Ensuring a variety of equipment between playgrounds in local area
  • Requests for playground to cater for children up to 12 years
  • Requests for supporting sports infrastructure e.g. bike track, sports goals, warrior course (outside of current project scope)
  • Addition of a public toilet (toilet facility planned for 2024/25)
  • Requests for modifications to the existing fence (resolve safety/maintenance issues)
  • More seating and ensuring shade sails remains
  • Repairs and maintenance of existing paving and pathways, BBQ and water fountain
