Thank you very much sharing your feedback on our 2024 Volunteer Recognition and Awards Event. We'd like to share with you what we heard from volunteers and how we're planning to use this feedback to plan for future events.

What we heard

The survey results indicate a high level of satisfaction among volunteers regarding the recent Volunteer Recognition and Awards High Tea event. The date, time, venue, catering, and awards ceremony were well-received.

Attendees praised the venue's atmosphere and enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with their team members and other volunteers. While the catering was generally appreciated, some constructive feedback was provided regarding the timing between courses and the portion sizes served. This feedback will be relayed to the caterers for future events.

Several areas for improvement were identified, including the need for a louder microphone and speaker system, as well as concerns about the event's length. Many respondents suggested a less formal atmosphere with more opportunities for mixing with others. Council has taken these suggestions into consideration for future events.

Interestingly, the responses were evenly split between those who had attended previous volunteer recognition events and those who were first-time attendees.

The majority of respondents expressed their willingness to attend next year's event and recommend it to their fellow volunteers.

Next steps

The survey yielded valuable ideas for future events. These suggestions, combined with staff brainstorming, will be compiled, and a follow-up survey will be sent out to allow volunteers to participate in selecting the next event's location and activities.

We will also share feedback from volunteers with the event venue and caterers.
