The Dogs on Beaches Community Working Group have worked extensively together to proposed two potential new options for rules for dogs on beaches between Semaphore South and the Breakwater at Osborne.

You can view the current rules for dogs on Semaphore South to Breakwater beaches (option 1) below, as well as the two options proposed by the working group (options 2 and 3).

This option is for the beach from Semaphore South to North Haven breakwater. This option is the same as current rules.

During daylight savings (October to March), dogs must be on-leash between 10am to 8pm.

Anytime outside of daylight savings (April to September), dogs are allowed off-leash under effective control.

This option is for the beach from Semaphore South to North Haven breakwater.

Within designated areas around both sides of the Semaphore and Largs Bay jetties, dogs must be on-leash at all times, all year round. Please zoom in to show these areas shown in red.

The exact distance for each jetty area would be between 150m and 500m total. We’re looking for feedback to assist in determining the exact distances of these on-leash areas, if this option was to go ahead. The on-leash areas would provide space for families to picnic around jetty areas and people with a fear of dogs or a reactive dog, to use the space without risk of dogs approaching them.

All other areas of the beach would remain under current daylight savings rules (on-leash 10am to 8pm). These areas are shown in yellow.

This option is for the beach from Semaphore South to North Haven breakwater.

From Strathfield Tce, Taperoo to North Haven Breakwater dogs can be off-leash at all times, all year round. This area is approximately 1.8km and is shown in green.

Within designated areas around both sides of the Semaphore and Largs Bay jetties, dogs must be on-leash at all times, all year round. These areas are shown in red.

The exact distance for each jetty area would be between 150m and 500m total. We’re looking for feedback to assist in determining the exact distances of these on-leash areas, if this option was to go ahead.
