How we engaged

In June 2021 we wrote to all residents and business owners in the study area seeking feedback on traffic-related issues in your street and across the suburb. We received over 550 feedback submissions. Members of the community told us about their observations on speeding, traffic volume, parking and other relevant matters.

First, we reviewed everyone’s feedback along with the technical data (including traffic counts and crash history). Next, we asked for nominations from residents across the study area to form a working group. Our aim in forming this working group was both to empower you and your local community and to bring local knowledge to the project.

The working group consisted of 12 members of the community, with 4 meetings held to develop the draft LATM scheme. This scheme aims to improve road safety and traffic management for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers throughout the study area.

Council at its May 2022 meeting endorsed the draft LATM plan. From 6 June to 7 July 2022, we asked you for your feedback on the draft LATM scheme for Klemzig, Windsor Gardens and Holden Hill.

What we heard

From a review of the feedback received, the ‘I support with some concerns’ option was
selected for several reasons:

  • A specific piece of feedback was provided on a treatment or street.
  • Additional streets or treatments were requested, typically parking controls or traffic calming.
  • Alternate treatment proposal provided.

Furthermore, from a review of the feedback, the ‘I do not support’ option was selected for
these common reasons:

  • Adamantly against a specific treatment (i.e. raised intersection platform or one way treatment).
  • Didn’t perceive any traffic issues in the study area.
  • Klemzig

What we asked

In your feedback, please let us know any of your specific requirements if a traffic control device or treatment is proposed on your street or near your property. This will allow us to consider this specific feedback as part of the design development of these traffic control devices.
