What's happening

Council has developed a Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) Program to improve local traffic conditions for our community. As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to improve road safety and create a safer roadside environment, and to assist us in understanding and resolving local traffic issues, we have collected and reviewed traffic data as part of the Northfield LATM.

The data collected and reviewed, indicates that:

  • Stirling Street and Hood Road are collector roads for Northfield.
  • Everyday motorists are frequently exceeding the speed limit of Stirling Street and Hood Road.

During October and November 2023, we asked our community for feedback on proposed traffic calming treatments for Stirling Street and Hoods Road in Northfield.

You can view the proposed traffic treatments, find out what we heard from our community and read the project next steps, by following the links below.

Next steps

Considering the feedback received, Council proceeded with the installation of speed humps on Stirling Street. We are awaiting a 12 month post implementation review which will be conducted in early 2025. Hoods Road will be further considered as part of the 12 month post implementation review.
