How could we assist you to get out and about around PAE?

Where do we need bike parking, kerb ramps, accessible parking and pedestrian and cycling refuges?

We would like to understand how we can improve your experience getting out and about around PAE by making improvements to existing walking, cycling and transit infrastructure as well as considering locations for new infrastructure.

We have been successful in receiving funding through the State Bicycle Fund to help deliver the cycling projects detailed below in our Next Steps. The scope of these projects includes the installation of bike hoops and consideration of walking/cycling refuges around the City of PAE.

We are also looking at new locations for the installation of kerb ramps which are used to improve ease of transition from the footpath and the adjacent roadway and improvements to accessible parking.

We want your help to understand where this infrastructure should be located and to review existing infrastructure that may not be meeting the communities needs due to poor location or condition.

  • Bike Hoops

Tell us where you think bike hoops are needed.

    We can consider:

    • New locations
    • Additional hoops at existing locations
    • Relocation of existing hoops to an improved location
    • We are unable to install hoops on private land such as privately owned shopping centres however please tell us about these locations, and we can pass this feedback on.
  • Walking/Cycling Refuges

Refuges allow people walking and cycling to stage their crossing to only contend with one direction of traffic at a time by providing room to stop within the centre island.

We are seeking your feedback on where refuges are needed. The feasibility of installing refuges will depend on road width and nearby accesses/obstructions and if they are suggested on council managed roads or arterial roads managed by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.

  • Kerb Ramps

Kerb ramps are designed to create a smooth and gradual transition between the footpath and the adjacent roadway. The primary purpose of kerb ramps is to eliminate the sharp vertical drop created by a curb or kerb that can pose significant challenges for pedestrians, especially those with mobility restrictions.

We would like your feedback on where new kerb ramps are needed and where existing kerb ramps could use upgrading.

  • Accessible Parking

Accessible or DDA parking spaces are designated parking spaces designed to specific criteria to be more accessible for someone with impaired mobility to access.

Tell us where you think additional accessible parking is needed. We can also consider improvements to existing parking.
