What's happening

The People and Pets Project provides support to those who find it difficult to carry out their pet’s care needs. The project is available to support older residents and people with support needs to care for their pets in their home and assist them to remain living independently through the continuation of the companion animal bond with their pets.

A range of services can be offered under the People and Pets Project, including:

  • Dog walking;
  • Pet bathing or grooming;
  • Administration of treatments such as flea and worm medication;
  • Transport to the vet or groomers;

Once assessed, you and your pet will be matched with a project volunteer who can assist with caring for your dog or cat.

To register for assistance with your pet, complete the registration form below. You can complete a registration on behalf of a family member or friend as long as you have their permission and know details about their pet and the assistance they require.

Share feedback

It has been six months since we launched People and Pets and we would love to hear from pet owners and volunteers about your experiences being involved project.

We are looking for feedback from participants who have been involved since the project beginning as well as pet owners and volunteers who have recently joined and may not have received or provided services yet.
